1.0 Maintenance 1 - Electrician Location: Southern Area Schools Base Location: Kirkland Lake Start date : As soon as possible Vacancy Details: 1.0 (Permanent/full-time, 40 hours/week - 7:00am to 3:00pm)
Immediate Supervisor's Title : Building Supervisor
Duties & Responsibilities
- Must have a good working knowledge of techniques, equipment and tools used in the electrical trade
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and electrical schematic diagrams
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in the electrical systems
- Familiar with HVAC systems and Building Automation Control Systems
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively and maintain progress reports
- Maintaining all necessary electrical inspection reports
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work
- Repairing, maintaining and testing existing systems and equipment
- Installing new circuits, lighting, receptacles, etc. as required
- Preparing material and cost estimates required to complete work orders
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid Ontario Electrical Journeyperson Certificate
- Electrical license
- 8 to 10 years of commercial electrical experience
- Valid Class-G Ontario driver's license
- Must have own vehicle to get to work sites
- Currently working in the trade
- Demonstrated experience as an electrician and in related building maintenance
- A valid Globally Harmonized System (GHS) certificate would be considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Electrical Code
- Training in lock-out/tag-out, arc flash, fall-arrest, and elevating platform lifts would be an asset
- Fire alarm and security system experience is an asset
Salary as per the current CUPE collective agreement
