About the role

Southridge acknowledges that we teach and learn on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Tsawwassen, and Semiahmoo First Nations.

Southridge is an independent day school located in South Surrey, BC with 696 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 12. We have a tradition of developing well rounded students with a balance of knowledge and goodness, inspiring students to go out into the world and make a difference.

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME, JUNIOR SCHOOL (K-7), TEACHER ON CALL (September 2026 to June 2027 – this a one-year term position with the possibility of extension)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide coverage for teacher absences across all subjects, Kindergarten through Grade 7
  • Provide in-class support and support special projects when not scheduled to provide coverage elsewhere (e.g. additional classroom support, assist in the Learning Commons/Library)
  • Support student supervision in formally scheduled and informal ways, as per the Junior School Faculty Guidebook
  • Guide and nurture student behaviour that aligns with the Junior School Promise and Junior School expectations
  • Participate in the House system and student life activities and initiatives
  • Support core school functions and special events (e.g. Junior School Open House, Admissions, concerts, etc.)
  • Complete required school-based HR training modules
  • Support after school co-curricular clubs up to 4 days/week, September through June, as assigned by the Junior School Principal and Vice-Principal, Student Life
  • Attend to additional duties and responsibilities outlined in the Southridge Faculty Handbook and the Junior School Guidebook

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Education (elementary/K-7 focus)
  • Valid BC teaching certificate
  • Proficiency with the Google Suite for Education and Microsoft
  • First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Southridge is excited to offer a competitive salary, with a pay scale that exceeds Vancouver School District by 4%. Additionally, we have a comprehensive benefits package, a generous RRSP matching program, access to health and wellness activities, and support for professional learning and development. The salary range for this position is from

$72,637. to $108,171. Salary placement is based on years of teaching experience and the completion of a Bachelor of Education degree.
