As a Specialist - Senior Network Infrastructure within our Infrastructure and Data Centre Operations department you are responsible for deploying and maintaining secure and highly available SDN in Data Centers, secure and highly available LAN, WAN, WLAN and SD-WAN and providing guidance and oversight to staff in the deployment maintenance of LAN, WAN, WLAN and SD-WAN.
What will your typical day look like?
- Implements and maintains secure, highly available LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN, SD-WAN, Internet, and cloud connection configurations, including automatic failover for disaster recovery scenarios, for both the Data Center and remote sites.
- Provides Level 3 technical support for network infrastructure in the cloud, on-premises data centers, and remote sites.
- Installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading network devices (routers, switches, WLAN controllers, access points, etc.).
- Collaborates with subject matter experts across various IT disciplines to design comprehensive, coherent, and efficient solutions that meet the design criteria of different business units. Defines the measures and tools necessary for technical solutions to ensure quality service, encompassing reliability, stability, and performance.
- Creates and maintains documentation for network design configurations, technical solutions, and the ecosystem for future reference and consultation.
- Sets up and maintains network management tools for troubleshooting and monitoring of LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN and SD-WAN.
- Manages network equipment lifecycle. Maintains a complete list of equipment inventory including lifecycle management (replacement and disposal).
- Provides expertise to analyze and help resolve problems and ecosystem issues related to LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN and SD-WAN.
- Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN and SD-WAN solutions and increasing value to front line officers.
- Develops procedures and provides input to standards relating to technical aspects of network infrastructure hardware and software.
- Creates, maintains and validates appropriate disaster avoidance and recover plans, in conjunction with other IT teams.
- Creates and reconciles procurement documents for goods/services in support of the network infrastructure including budgeting/forecasting analysis.
- Manages relationships with vendors and other organizations for the activities related to network infrastructure.
- Creates change request, Method of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation.
- Mentors intermediate and junior staff.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:
- A University Degree/College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One or more certification in the following, or equivalent network field certification, required:
- CCIE Data Center
- CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure
- CCIE Enterprise Wireless
- CCIE Collaborations
- CCIE Service Provider
- CCIE Security
- DevNet Expert
- CCDE
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
- A minimum of five years experience with Cisco or Equivalent network vendor in the following:
- Designing, Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Data Center Network/LAN/WAN/WLAN for enterprise businesses
- Cisco ASR/ISR routers and Catalyst/Nexus switches
- OSPF and BGP routing protocol
- IPSec VPN
- Plus a minimum of 2 years working experience with the following systems, tools and/or technologies:
- Designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting QoS in the network for critical applications like voice, etc.
- Troubleshooting network and application performance with tools from vendors like Wireshark, Fluke, NetAlly, Netscout, Solarwinds or Viavi, etc.
- Designing, Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Network Access Control (NAC) with Cisco ISE or equivalent network vendor
- Designing, Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting DHCP, RADIUS and TACACS
- Linux and/or Windows operating systems
- Databases such as MSSQL
- Demonstrated knowledge in configuring, managing and supporting networking & security configurations for Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
- Working knowledge in designing, testing and troubleshooting outside plant single mode fiber optic networks preferred.
- Working knowledge in building, implementing, and supporting SDWAN solution based on Cisco or VMware or Fortinet or Palo Alto vendors preferred.
- Working knowledge in configuring, managing and supporting networking & security configurations for AWS, Google and/or other cloud environments preferred.
- Working knowledge in configuring firewalls from vendors like Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint or Palo Alto preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical power distribution for data centres and computer network systems preferred.
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts, automation and technologies used in Infrastructure-as-Code i.e., CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, Python, etc. preferred.
- Knowledge of Network vendor management preferred.
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated written communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, research and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities.
- Valid Ontario Driver`s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges.
What we offer
The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is **$71,653.00 to $**120,727.00 per annum. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($98,996.00 - $120,727.00) based on experience. The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
