JOB OVERVIEW

At KF Aerospace, we are seeking a Junior Cyber Security Analyst to help safeguard our IT systems, data, and users.

Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager and working closely with senior staff, this role is responsible for day-to-day operational security tasks such as monitoring, detecting, and analyzing potential threats, conducting initial investigations, and escalating incidents as needed. Additional responsibilities include routine security reviews, assisting with internal audits, and maintaining security documentation.

The position is full time, based out of the head office in Kelowna. After successful completion of the probationary period, the successful candidate may be considered for hybrid working arrangements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor SIEM dashboards, security related alerts, and logs; investigate suspicious activity and escalate incidents as required.
  • Investigate phishing and spam emails; mitigate or escalate confirmed threats as appropriate.
  • Collect and preserve logs and evidence for basic forensics; document incidents and support reporting; assist senior staff with advanced forensics and threat hunting.
  • Conduct security reviews for new tools and application requests; monitor advisories and updates; report and track vulnerabilities.
  • Provide first-level support for all security-related tickets and inquiries.
  • Perform routine security reviews and assist with internal audits; maintain logs; follow up with system owners on required changes
  • Manage USB/media requests, approve temporary allowances, and monitor usage.
  • Coordinate quarterly phishing campaigns and prepare reports on results.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating security playbooks and internal documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Minimum of a 2-year college diploma or a university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus a Cyber Security certification

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in Cyber Security (experience in IT Operations may be considered, depending on relevance).

Technical Skills:

  • Exposure to SIEM tools for log monitoring, alert triage, and incident detection
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint protection and EDR platforms
  • Knowledge of common threat types, attack vectors, and vulnerability management practices
  • Hands-on experience with major operating systems (Windows, Android, iOS)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 security tools (e.g., Entra ID, Sentinel, Defender, PIM, entitlement management)
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings in reports, tickets, and security documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and build positive relationships
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a fast-paced security environment

Assets (Nice to Have):

  • Knowledge of Azure and Palo Alto security solutions (e.g., Cortex XDR, Panorama, NGFW)
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent)

Travel:

  • Occasional (<10%) travel within Canada may be required.

Other:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain secret – level II security clearance.

SALARY

The wage band is level 8, $67,500 – $84,500 annually, depending on the knowledge and experience. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
