About the role
Teknion Custom Solutions is looking for an experienced Shipper/Receiver to join our team in Calgary. This role will manage our daily freight, handle international shipping documents, and ensure every order is loaded accurately. We are seeking a reliable professional who values safety and precision to help keep our logistics running smoothly.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Physically load trailers and use scanning equipment to track products, including taking clear photos of all outgoing loads to confirm they were shipped in good condition.
- Create and double-check all essential shipping documents, including Bills of Lading and customs invoices for international orders.
- Keep accurate digital logs by uploading photos and shipping documents to the company’s shared drives.
- Coordinate and book arrival times for incoming freight and assist with unloading deliveries from couriers and trucking companies.
- Identify and fix scanning errors or labeling issues and resolve common carrier problems, such as missed pickups or equipment issues.
- Prioritize and fast-track urgent replacement orders or customer claims to ensure they reach the client as quickly as possible.
- Serve as a reliable point of contact for the office and sales teams regarding delivery status, freight costs, and tracking updates.
- Work with outside suppliers to make sure materials needed for specific orders arrive on time.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand and follow standard safety rules and procedures.
PREREQUISITES
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in logistics or supply chain management is an asset.
- 5-10 years of experience in shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
- Previous supervisory experience is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency using shipping software, digital cameras, and online file-sharing tools like Google Drive.
- Extensive knowledge of booking freight, managing carrier relationships, and handling complex shipping documentation.
