Leasing Law Clerk (6 to 12 month Contract)
About the role

22 St. Clair Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M4T 2S5
Reporting directly to the Director, Legal Counsel, the Leasing Law Clerk candidate will play a key role in managing the full lifecycle of commercial lease documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial lease documents, including leases, lease amending agreements, lease extension agreements, pylon sign agreements, offers to lease, and other related documentation.
- Respond to lease-related inquiries from the business for day-to-day matters.
- Liaise with different business groups, departments and stakeholders within the company and affiliated companies.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel as required.
- Ensure all lease documentation is prepared in compliance with internal corporate policies, procedures, and governance standards.
- Monitor the progress of leasing matters, summarize key information, and provide regular status updates to the legal and business teams.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial leasing experience gained at a law firm or in-house with a real estate company, with a strong focus on drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related legal documents.
- Strong knowledge of commercial leasing, with strong legal drafting, documentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to interpret lease provisions and identify potential risks or inconsistencies.
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and dependability, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
- Comfortable with digital collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, DocuSign) to streamline document management and approvals.
- A proactive attitude, coupled with a willingness to learn and develop within the role.
- Demonstrates curiosity, motivation, and engagement in their work.
- Bilingualism is an asset but not required.
