Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Technology and Infrastructures (T&I) is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force. T&I is the team making it happen.

As part of this transformation, Governance & Engineering is undertaking a large infrastructure project, with a goal to modernize our broadcasting capabilities. The Enterprise Applications Agile Practice team is supporting this program.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your Role:

The Enterprise Applications Delivery - Agile Practice Team is looking for a Scrum Master - Agile Coach with strong organizational and coaching skills to lead squads in our audio and video editing tool replacement project known as Pyramid. This role can be based in our downtown Montreal or Toronto office.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Application Delivery, you will guide and coach teams and support the transition to Agile in technical teams involved in this program. You will be responsible for ensuring the squads’ focus and effectiveness, partnering with Project teams and Project Managers to ensure priorities are known, and contribute to metrics and reporting. Leading by example, you will be an agent of change, introducing agile practices that will ensure focus, transparency and collaboration in your teams. You will also collaborate with other Scrum Masters to support Enterprise Applications in their Agile Transformation

How will you make an impact?

As Scrum Master, you will:

  • Guide and coach multiple Squads to implement and use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products.
  • Guide the team to a high-performance level – recognize areas of strength and improvement and employ appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Work in partnership with the Project teams, Business Partners and Project Managers to ensure priorities are defined and teams deliver on their commitments.
  • Champion and support adoption of agile standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and solutions brought to the table, with an emphasis on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-management, promoting healthy interactions both within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Work with Squads and internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive decision making and support the project’s goals.
  • Understand the overall project structure and how your Squads balance this project with their other priorities to support the project teams in their priority setting.
  • Organize and facilitate agile activities and ceremonies including daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, retrospectives, sprint and version planning, and product backlog refinement sessions.
  • Help identify and resolve impediments, and coach teams to increase to manage these situations independently.
  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization.
  • Ability to effectively navigate a hybrid environment where agile practices coexist with more traditional ways of working.
  • Coach the Squad in self-organization, cross-functionality, domain knowledge and effective communication.
  • Help the project leaders and the team formulate Product Goals, Sprint Goals and maintain a well-groomed backlog in support of the Version goals and project priorities.

Perks you can look forward to:

  • Four weeks of vacation per year.
