The Opportunity We are building the future of discretionary wealth management in Canada. As Director of Managed Accounts , you will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling Fidelity’s discretionary investment platform. You will recruit, inspire, and lead a high-performing team to design and deliver cutting-edge discretionary investment solutions that set new industry standards. The long-term objective is to position Fidelity’s discretionary investment platform as a core pillar of the firm’s long-term business success.
You will collaborate across business units and harness the full strength of Fidelity’s global research and investment capabilities. Your work will directly impact how we serve high-net-worth clients and advisors—today and for decades to come.
Success in this role requires working cross-functionally with product, technology, compliance, and distribution teams to create innovative, client-centric solutions. You will help transform portfolio management operations through scalable, AI-enabled, and data-driven technologies that enhance advisor productivity and client outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional business acumen, strong analytical and communication skills, and a passion for building scalable, data driven solutions that support the long-term growth of our wealth management business.
What You’ll Do Develop and Lead Discretionary Investment Solutions
- Design and oversee the creation of innovative discretionary investment strategies tailored to the needs of mass-affluent and high-net-worth clients, leveraging Fidelity’s research and investment capabilities.
- Maintain capital markets research and ongoing analysis to provide effective leadership and portfolio based insights.
Drive Technology-Enabled Portfolio Management
- Collaborate with technology and data teams to implement scalable, data-driven tools that streamline portfolio construction, monitoring, and reporting.
- Develop a sustainable pipeline of major tech-enabled solutions within a specified timeline, with a clear long-term roadmap.
Collaborate Across Business Units to Align Strategy
- Work cross-functionally with product, distribution, compliance, and operations teams to ensure business requirements of discretionary offerings are understood in the broader context of Fidelity’s growth objectives.
- Successfully integrate of discretionary solutions into Fidelity’s Wealth and Private Wealth platform.
Champion Internal & External Thought Leadership
- Position Fidelity as a leader in discretionary wealth management through internal/external thought leadership, client education, and market engagement.
- Build relationships internally that champion market differentiating wealth management capabilities
Build and Manage a High-Performing Investment Team
- Recruit, develop, and lead a team of investment professionals to execute on the discretionary strategy and support emerging business lines.
- Align team performances with long-term business objective and project milestones.
What We’re Looking For
- 7 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration within business administration, finance, economics or another related field or equivalent work experience
- Significant exposure to portfolio management, trading, compliance and/or investment operations for an asset manager or related entity
- Analytical/programming experience
- Advising Representative Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is a must have requirement
- CFA or CIM is a minimum requirement
- Previous experience in a similar investment operation and or portfolio services role is nice to have
- Experience as portfolio trader or similar investment operations and portfolio services role is an asset

- Excellent knowledge of product structures and investments covering multiple asset classes(equity, fixed income, alternative funds)
- Proactive and decisive leader with the ability to take a big-picture view and identify priorities to drive forward key initiatives
- Strategic thinking and ability to orchestrate use of business analytics for decision making
- Strong business acumen and ability to demonstrates big picture understanding of business, interrelationships, priorities
- Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
