About the role

The Specialist focuses on the development and execution of graduate student recruitment initiatives, working within a team responsible for advancing the University’s enrolment goals and priorities. The role contributes across recruitment strategy, outreach, and partnership development to attract high-quality domestic graduate applicants. Each Specialist serves as the key liaison between Graduate Recruitment and their assigned Faculty(ies), program areas, or global regions. With responsibility for their portfolio of graduate programs, the Specialist plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates multi-channel recruitment strategies, including digital campaigns, online information sessions, conferences, fairs and more.

The Specialist maintains in-depth knowledge of graduate program offerings, admissions requirements, and target markets, and applies this expertise to deliver responsive, data-informed, and innovative recruitment approaches. They play a key role in guiding prospective students through the decision-making process, from initial inquiry to application.

In addition, the Specialist establishes and follows effective administrative processes to support recruitment operations, while collaborating closely with internal teams, faculty, external partners, and prospective students. The role ensures a seamless and student-centered recruitment experience, while monitoring outcomes and reporting on performance to inform continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated ability to recruit graduate students across Canada, with the intercultural awareness and adaptability to effectively engage diverse student populations.
  • Experience leveraging a range of recruitment channels, including direct outreach, partnership pathways, and broader networks, to connect with prospective students from varied backgrounds and experiences.
  • Undergraduate degree plus a minimum five years’ related experience in a postsecondary environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to work independently, in a high-performance team with minimal supervision and be a disciplined self-starter, taking initiative where appropriate.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and public speaking skills with the ability to adapt speaking and presentation style to the audience.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, and a general understanding of communication protocol and etiquette as they vary across cultures and organizations.
  • Experience with planning in-person and virtual events varying in scale and scope, including demonstrated ability to positively represent the University, host guests, and lead the agenda of events.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise a high degree of discretion.
  • Local and national travel will be required as well as occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

An ideal candidate would also possess (asset, not required):

  • Royal Roads University education
  • Experience studying, working and/or travelling abroad.

Additional Information

This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week for a term from date until date. This position has been evaluated at MPT-B with a salary range of $69,908 (minimum) to $82,147 (midpoint) to $94,387 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
