About the role

The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a Cost Earned Value Specialist to support multiple projects across Canada. In this role you will manage project cost data and perform EVM analysis including forecasting. You will have the opportunity to prepare and share reports, collaborate with teams, and recommend corrective actions. This opportunity will require you to work standard EST hours.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Report to the Project Controls Manager/Project Manager or Project Director.
  • Manage the collection, organization and create Monthly cost reports.
  • Create and update schedule in MS Project and/or P6 based on the scheduling tool used on the project.
  • Experience in cost loading schedules to support forecasting ETC’s.
  • Conduct Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis for assigned projects, evaluating cost and schedule performance against the baseline and current approved budgets.
  • Manage project cost baselines, ETC forecasting and EAC values within the Project cost reports with input from the project team.
  • Prepare and distribute regular EVM reports, dashboards, and presentations to project stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators, trends, and areas requiring attention.
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure they understand EVM data and can make informed decisions based on the analysis.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on cost variances, and recommend corrective actions to bring projects back on budget.
  • Analyze Earned Value (EV) trends and produce regular forecasts of EV performance and issues for Project Manager review.
  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of the various business systems utilized across the business e.g. Oracle.
  • Coordinate with billing and finance teams to review/document accounts receivable, time sheets for the period and other expenses as required and provide support where required.
  • Maintain cost breakdown structures in line with WBS coding, time writing coding and control accounts for cost reporting purposes.
  • Support with Canada project setup, timesheet coding, billing, etc.
  • Support the PM team in monitoring and controlling the portfolio of projects across Canada.
  • Create and maintain accurate reporting and tracking cost reports (within excel and /or an ERP system) on various projects and maintain accurate and organized EVM records and documentation for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Perform data integrity checks and auditing to ensure accuracy of reporting across multiple projects.
  • Provide timely identification, notification, resolution, and recording of deviations from the current budgets versus EAC.
  • Attend meetings, prepare and distribute agenda items, take meeting minutes, and track follow-up actions.
  • Review and understand all relevant project and contract material.
  • Support with drafting of the Project Controls Plan and procedures.
  • Generate monthly accruals where required.
  • Record and monitor project scope modifications and contribute to the generation of change order submissions. Perform analysis to illustrate project trends over the project lifecycle to determine areas that require improvement and that are doing well.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business, Project Management, Engineering, or Economics.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a cost EVM role, supporting the construction industry.
  • Bilingual speaking (fluent in both English & French)
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Advanced Excel, ERP systems knowledge and Power BI.
  • Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities.
  • Solid experience executing cost reporting activities in accordance with current policies and procedures with working knowledge building excel cost reporting tools.
  • Strong experience utilizing an EV engine such as In-eight.
  • Ability to compile detailed reports in narrative, graphical and tabular format and ensure that project statistics and client reports are provided in a timely, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Certifications such as PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP) or AACE International's Earned Value Professional (EVP) is a plus.
