About the role
##Position Summary
The Garden Centre Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of the garden centre. This role involves assisting customers with plant and product selection, maintaining displays, and ensuring the outdoor retail area is clean, safe, and well-stocked. This is a physically demanding position that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
##Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive customer service
- Assist customers with plant selection, gardening products, and general inquiries
- Load and unload products for customers, including soil, plants, and bulk items
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays
- Water and care for plants as required
- Receive, stock, and rotate inventory
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) system as needed
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed, including safe lifting practices
- Support general housekeeping of the garden centre and surrounding areas
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet sales and service goals
##Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous retail or garden centre experience is considered an asset
- Basic knowledge of plants, gardening, or landscaping is an asset
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
##Physical & Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift up to50 lbson a regular basis
- Must be able to workoutdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks
##Availability Requirements
- Must be available to workweekends (required)
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and holidays as needed
##Employment Details
- Temporary, part-time position
- Seasonal duration: March-July
- Hours may vary based on business needs
