About the role

We are looking for engaged, energetic, and passionate educators to join our team! As an Early Childhood Educator (or ECE-A) in our YMCA programs you will use observations skills to plan a YMCA Playing to Learn™ emergent curriculum. Children's play experiences are used to build a dynamic learning environment.

Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Programs, you will facilitate a high-quality child care experience for children ages birth to 5 in accordance with YMCA standards and provincial requirements.

Additionally, the YMCA of SIBC participates in the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement program offered through the Government of BC.

Reporting to the Child Care Manager this Full-Time member of the Child Care team, will:

  • Assist in leading high quality program planning, incorporating the Y’s values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, and Inclusiveness

  • Assist in maintaining safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards

  • Build healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

  • Actively interacts with children ages 1-12 as a play partner and homework helper

  • Supports implementation of play based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports

  • Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Must be 19 years of age (as per provincial licensing standards)

  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C

  • ECE-A/ECE/ Infant/Toddler Certificate (wage dependent upon level of certification)
