About the role
Job Description The Payroll Specialist II is responsible for the administration of the organization’s salaried employee payroll, its account reconciliation, reporting and documentation.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. What You'll Do
- Prepares salaried payroll, payments and remittances (base & variable pay, contributions, deductions, taxes & T4’s).
- Calculates retroactivity on specific payments.
- Prepares journal entries and reconciliations (payroll, paid time-off, and other type of accruals).
- Balances and files tax related reports.
- Updates scheduled reports and provides data analysis upon request.
- Ensures data and transaction accuracy through meticulous control and validation process.
- Answers internal and external payroll inquiries (e.g., employees, finance departments, government agencies, external auditors).
- Maintains employee records.
- Documents and reviews payroll related procedures.
- Provides support to the Payroll Manager.
What You'll Bring
- College diploma in accounting or human resources related program.
- Minimum 3-5 years of wide-range full cycle payroll & accounting experience, in a dynamic organizational, high paced and high volume environment.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
- Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices.
- Ability to accurately process payroll in a timely manner.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient user of payroll software (In house payroll system - Oracle, JD Edwards, People Soft).
- Intermediate user knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a business environment.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800 - $82,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
