Principal Solutions Architect
Seniority: Senior-level (Tech Lead)
Location: Remote in Canada
Duration: 6 months to start, strong possibility of extension
Rate: $90–110/hr (DOE)
Role Overview
We’re seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to lead enterprise-level architecture and transformation initiatives within the insurance domain. This is a hands-on, senior-level role that blends deep technical expertise with enterprise governance and stakeholder engagement. You’ll shape the long-term digital architecture strategy while ensuring security, compliance, and scalability for mission-critical platforms.
Core Experience & Skills
- Enterprise Architecture leadership: Strong background in EA and Solution Architecture with a focus on digital transformation in large, regulated enterprises.
- Governance & compliance: Proven experience running architecture review boards , aligning stakeholders, and embedding cybersecurity frameworks and privacy-by-design into solutions.
- Cloud transformation: Hands-on experience designing and migrating systems to the cloud (preferably AWS ), with emphasis on secure, compliant architectures in the insurance sector.
- Generative AI frameworks: Solid understanding of GenAI tools, frameworks, and use cases , with ability to identify where they can be practically applied in an enterprise insurance environment.
- Insurance systems expertise: Track record of architecting large-scale, business-critical insurance systems — underwriting, claims, policy, billing — with a strong grasp of regulatory and compliance drivers .
- Event-driven design: Expertise in event streaming and messaging systems (Kafka, AWS SNS, SQS), along with SOAP, REST, and JSON web services.
- API-first integrations: Deep knowledge of API-driven integration patterns to decouple digital and back-end systems for scalability and resilience.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with insurance ecosystem platforms such as ALIP, Fineos, or LOMA .
- Prior experience with regulatory frameworks in Canadian insurance (e.g., OSFI, PCI, SOC2, PII).
- Strong ability to work in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
