Opportunity

The Alpha Strategies team operates as part of the Public Equities team at AIMCo managing a variety of market neutral relative value and arbitrage strategies using a combination of fundamental and quantitative analysis. We are actively engaged in capital markets and invest in equity and equity-linked opportunities across our strategies. This role will strengthen the team and investment strategy by providing support with investment research, portfolio analytics, operational and data management and technology infrastructure projects.

This is a 4-month, full-time internship starting in May 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the day-to-day operational support and management of the Alpha Strategies portfolio
  • Contributing to idea generation and investment research
  • Conduct fundamental equity and credit research
  • Build and maintain valuation models, screening databases and related data sets
  • Proactively developing and communicating research for the team
  • Collaborating with a variety of teams within AIMCo to achieve common goals

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • In pursuit of an undergraduate degree in finance, economics, math, statistics, computer science or related field.
  • Proven financial modelling skills and ability to conduct detailed financial analysis.
  • Strong technical skills (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Factset, Excel, Word, PowerPoint,etc).
  • Working towards the completion of CFA Charter or other related designation is an asset.
  • Programming/data analysis skills and prior trading experience are considered assets.
  • Team player with strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Success Measures:

Success at the end of your term will be determined by your ability to seek out learning opportunities and become involved in multiple projects, tasks, responsibilities, and investments. You will have developed an increased understanding of investment concepts and market knowledge, and a new appreciation of finance and investment management. A student who goes above and beyond expectations will participate in multiple projects and add value to team initiatives.
