Medcan is seeking a Fitness Consultant to join our Fitness team to support service delivery during a planned leave from June through the end of August .
At the conclusion of the temporary contract, there may the potential to transition into a Fitness Consultant and/or Personal Trainer role at Medcan’s Kingsway location. Any such opportunity will be discussed closer to the end of the contract and will be subject to business needs and individual performance.
The Role:
Medcan’s Fitness Consultants play a critical role in a client’s preventive health journey by delivering structured fitness assessments, interpreting results, and guiding clients toward appropriate long-term fitness solutions.
As a Fitness Consultant , you will deliver in-person fitness assessments and consultations within Medcan’s established service framework. You will work collaboratively with Fitness and multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure a seamless, high-quality client experience. This role is designed to maintain continuity of care and service standards during a defined leave period.
What You'll Do:
As a Fitness Consultant, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive fitness and movement assessments for Medcan clients
- Perform InBody body composition testing and interpret results using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)
- Conduct muscle and joint fitness testing, including screens for mobility, functional strength, and core endurance
- Perform anthropometric measurements (height, weight, waist, hip circumference)
- Accurately document assessment findings and generate client reports
- Clearly explain assessment results, trends, and normative ranges in a client-friendly manner
- Provide evidence-informed exercise recommendations and corrective strategies aligned with assessment outcomes
- Educate clients on fitness results, movement quality, and next steps within Medcan’s fitness services
- Support client satisfaction and conversion to ongoing fitness services through a high standard of service
- Follow up with marketing-generated fitness leads as assigned
- Collaborate professionally with Medcan Fitness, clinical, and administrative teams
- Support efficient client flow through the clinic while respecting scheduled appointment times
- Represent the Medcan brand in a professional, client-centred manner at all times
Assessment Focus Areas
InBody Body Composition Testing
Use Medcan’s InBody body composition analyzer, within recommended guidelines, to assess key metrics including body fat percentage, lean mass, visceral fat estimate, and hydration status. Review and explain results with clients, including segmental analysis and comparison to age- and sex-based normative ranges.
Muscle & Joint Fitness Testing
Evaluate overall muscle and joint health using standardized movement assessments to assess:
- Shoulder and lower-body mobility
- Upper- and lower-body functional strength
- Core strength and endurance
Provide appropriate corrective exercise recommendations based on findings.
What You'll Need:
- One or more of the following:
- Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or Health Sciences
- Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion or related field
- Recognized Personal Training and/or Fitness Assessment certification
- 1–2 years of experience in a client-facing fitness, health, or wellness role
- Previous experience in sales or service-based fitness environments is an asset
- Current CPR certification (required)
- Strong interest in assessment-driven fitness and client education
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, premium clinical environment
- Professional, discreet, and collaborative approach
Position Pay Range
Pay range based on projected On-Target Earnings for year one of employment.
The compensation range provided in this posting reflects a projected estimate for the first year of employment and includes base salary plus anticipated variable commission earnings. Actual commission will vary based on individual performance, team targets, and business conditions. Over time, commission earnings may grow as the employee gains experience, builds client relationships, and achieves performance milestones. This projection is not a guarantee of future earnings and should be viewed as an illustrative example based on current compensation models.
