Volunteer Medical Assistant – Cardiac Clinic
Location: Stouffville, Ontario Schedule: Fridays, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Position Type: Volunteer
About Us
We are a busy cardiac clinic in Stouffville dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality cardiovascular care. We are seeking a reliable and professional Volunteer Medical Assistant to support our physician and clinical team during Friday clinic hours.
Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Medical Assistant, you will
- Welcome and prepare patients for their appointments.
- Measure and record patients’ blood pressure and other basic vital signs as required.
- Obtain and document patient medical histories and relevant health information.
- Present patient histories and relevant clinical information to the physician before or during patient consultations.
- Assist with patient flow to help ensure an efficient and organized clinic.
- Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Provide general clinical support as directed by the physician.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or pursuing a program in medicine, nursing, physician assistant studies, medical sciences, kinesiology, or another healthcare-related field.
- Familiarity with the Canadian healthcare system and medical terminology is required.
- Previous clinical, volunteer, or healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Professional, dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and professionalism in a clinical setting.
