About the role
We are currently seeking a qualifiedGardener/Horticulturistto join our team. This seasonal position is based in the Edmonton area.
The ideal candidate will have passion for gardening and landscaping, coupled with relevant experience in maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces. The candidate will possess the ability to effectively design and cultivate outdoor environments through careful plant selection and placement, and will have a solid understanding of plant care, soil health, and seasonal maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and outdoor landscapes.
- Plant annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- Implement irrigation strategies and maintain proper watering schedules.
- Diagnose and address challenges related to pest control, irrigation systems, and plant health.
- Prune trees and shrubs to promote healthy growth.
- Operate hand tools such as pruners, shovels, and rakes effectively.
- Utilize power equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, and edgers, for landscape maintenance.
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks such as weeding, mulching, and fertilizing.
- Ensure outdoor areas are kept clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Requirements
- Certification in horticulture or a related field is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in gardening or landscaping is essential.
- CSTS 2020 certification is required. -Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is mandatory.
- Comprehensive knowledge of garden care techniques and the ability to identify various plant species.
- Proficiency in operating both hand tools and power equipment is required.
- A strong attention to detail is necessary for maintaining garden aesthetics.
- Physical endurance to perform outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions is required.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with team members.
- Experience in landscape design & a familiarity with irrigation systems is considered an asset.
