About the role

STUDENT SUPERVISOR

The Burnaby School District is looking to hire Casual Student Supervisors to work throughout the district on an on-call basis. We are looking for outstanding employees who have an ability to build trust and respect, and model and reinforce proper behaviour and adherence to safety rules.

This position is responsible for supervising students in school buildings and on school grounds during the lunch break in elementary and secondary schools throughout Burnaby.

Applicants Must Have

  • Grade 12 education
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in working with children and/or adolescents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution or non-violent crisis intervention training are assets
  • Knowledge of basic first aid is an asset

This position requires that you are physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and can stand/walk around for a 70-minute shift. The ability to build successful relationships, influence behaviour, and avert or resolve conflict thanks to your experience either raising or working with children are also key traits required for this position.

This position pays $29.26 per hour.

Schools The Burnaby School District operates 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, including a range of district and provincial resource programs. During the summer months, our District provides students the opportunity to take various courses. Summer session is an opportunity for teachers, who choose to, to continue working during the summer months.
