Know our team
Nutrition International's Partnerships and Growth unit is a diverse team of dedicated professionals in business development, advocacy and government relations. The unit serves as a knowledge management hub and facilitates decision-making of all resource mobilization efforts, promotes standardized prepositioning and proposal processes, and supports business development capacity building across NI teams. The unit specifically leads NI's response to competitive funding opportunities (RFPs) through prepositioning and proposal development, and leads on the cultivation of private sector donors through prospecting and stewardship. We support resource mobilization efforts at the regional and country level by supporting bid planning, outreach and engagement with donors and partners, and proposal development. The unit works closely with other teams across the organization to grow and diversify resources for Nutrition International's global strategy and Investment Case. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for aSenior Advisor, Partnerships & Growthto be based inOttawa, Canadaor commutable distance and working hybrid, coming into the office on a regular basis.
About you
You are someone with 10+ years of senior experience in international development, partnerships, strategy, or complex organizational environments. You have a demonstrated ability to influence across functions without formal authority. You are experienced in supporting executive-level decision-making with a strong understanding of the international development environment (broadly), global development financing and donor landscapes.
You have high-level strategic synthesis and analytical capability, strong political judgment and organizational awareness. You have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English is required.
About the role
This role serves as a senior strategic advisor to the VP, supporting the effective implementation and integration of the Partnerships & Growth strategy. This role does not own portfolio outcomes, revenue targets, or team management responsibilities. Instead, it operates horizontally across the unit to strengthen alignment, accelerate priority initiatives, and provide senior-level analysis and coordination in support of the VP’s leadership. The Senior Advisor enhances executive capacity by advancing cross-cutting initiatives, preparing high-level engagements, and ensuring disciplined follow-through across business development, advocacy, and government relations functions.
In this role you will:
Executive Advisory Support
· Provide strategic counsel to the head of unit on emerging opportunities, risks, and cross-functional challenges.
· Prepare executive briefings, talking points, donor analyses, and strategic summaries to support high-level engagements.
· Synthesize complex information across portfolios to inform head of unit decision-making.
Cross-Functional Integration
· Facilitate coordination across Business Development, Advocacy, and Government Relations to ensure alignment with established strategy.
· Support clarity of priorities and sequencing of major initiatives.
· Identify cross-unit bottlenecks and propose solutions for head of unit consideration.
Priority Initiative Advancement
· Lead time-bound, head of unit-designated strategic initiatives that require cross-functional collaboration.
· Support major donor pursuits or positioning efforts that span multiple portfolios.
· Drive structured follow-through on executive decisions and commitments.
Strategic Intelligence and Analysis
· Consolidate donor, policy, and partnership intelligence into actionable insights.
· Support scenario planning and forward-looking analysis at the direction of the head of unit.
· Monitor alignment between growth activities and NI’s broader organizational priorities.
Regular travel within Canada and internationally is required.
