Position Summary

Works closely with the Operations Accounting Group and reports to the Senior Manager, Special Projects & Hospitality Accounting, the Hospitality Accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of hotel and restaurant accounting.

Position Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily sales revenue and prepare revenue report for the restaurants.

  • Reconcile payment records from POS and CC Merchant (e.g., Credit Card Payments, Cash etc.)

  • Reconcile and track gift card records.

  • Review Promo Checks (Covers, discounts with the associated accounts and approvals by managers)

  • Perform reconciliation of various bank and GL accounts monthly.

  • Perform full cycle accounting (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable).

  • Weekly runs to restaurant to deliver cash floats to restaurants.

  • Assist with Preparing Journal Entries for Month End Closing.

  • Assist in preparing Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Management Reports.

  • Assist in preparing Year End document for external Auditors.

  • Prepare and review credit checks, guest request, copies of folios and billing corrections etc.

  • Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.

  • Visit and/or work from company sites as required, office, hotel, restaurants.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA designation or working towards an asset.

  • Experience: 1+ year accounting experience.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to meet tight timelines while managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.

  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Information

This full-time salaried position works 8:30 am - 5:00 pm in the office, Monday through Friday and is in downtown Vancouver.
