We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our Athabasca OSB Division, located in Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America , giving us the ability to produce a diverse range of innovative products for customers around the world.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Experience in leading the organization and supervision of technical aspects of process improvements, technology, research and development .
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSB/EWP (Engineered Wood Products) manufacturing processes . -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills . -Commitment to safety.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Strong statistical knowledge and computer literacy. -Degree or diploma in Wood Science, Forestry , Engineering, or a related technical field.

In this role, you will:
-Lead with a strong focus on safety .
- Serve as an active member of both the site Leadership Team and the Tolko Product Quality & Technical Group . -Provide feedback and support to our Process Specialists/Engineers .
- Assist in the development and improvement of products and processes .
- Works with the Product Quality & Technical Group on the deployment, ongoing execution, and continuous improvement of the Tolko Quality Management System (TQM 9000) at site. -Lead and resolve quality issues within areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with production goals and safety standards. -Investigate site related customer claims & complaints and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay on top of new industry developments and standards in technology and customer satisfaction in order to recommend, plan, and organize actions that will keep the mill current. -Interact with our Sales and Production teams and keep the product cost model current.
- Use your knowledge of code requirements, third-party testing agencies and experience in statistical process control to plan, organize and implement resin or mill trials .

per year .
