Dessert Holdings is looking for Production Supervisors to join our team based in London, Ontario .The Production Supervisor reports to the Shift Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing the production of quality and safe food and ensuring production standards on specific assignments within required time are always followed in a safe manner.
2nd (B) shift:3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with Saturday overtime A day in the life of the Production Supervisor can look like this:
- Drivessafety culture, engaging production staff to proactively identifyand address safety concerns.
- Leads and provides direction to up to 80 people at one time, including training and coaching employees to meet high quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Coordinates production startup, shutdown, and changeovers.
- Coordinates appropriate staffing levels with Shift Production Manager, and manages overtime as approved by the Shift Production Manager.
- Responsible for employee rotations on the line, employee training, employee breaks.
- Responsible for reporting and tracking waste and actively identifying ways to reduce waste in accordance with company goals.
- Ability to reduce downtime and to improve and create more efficiency on the line, while keeping safety top priority.
- Responsible for maintaining production records in a timely manner. Understands and fills production reports and logs daily.
- Inspects and gives final sign off on all production labels when necessary.
- Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within a required time.
- Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on the production floor.
- Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space.
- Follows production dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene and makes sure all employees do the same.
- Responsible for food safety and food quality throughout production.
- Schedule and conduct shift meetings with Shift Production Manager's assistance.
- Understands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with BRC, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure safety within the workplace and the production of safe and quality products.
Position Requirements (Must Have)
- At least 2 years food production experience or in a related industry
- High school diploma. A degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field will be an advantage.
- PC Proficient in email, reading/writing reports and creating effective MS Excel spread sheets.
- Have a working understanding of Quality Management Systems.
- Have a working understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and best practices.
- Previous production management experience with both people management and resource allocation.
- Stooping, kneeling, or bending.
- Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
