The Senior Compensation Specialist plays a key role in shaping and maintaining our company’s compensation programs to ensure they are competitive, equitable, and aligned with our overall business strategy. In this role, you will lead the design, analysis, and administration of our compensation frameworks, including market pricing for both new and existing roles. You will also oversee compensation structures across the organization and manage the annual compensation cycle, including pay reviews and recommended adjustments. Working closely with our People & Culture Managers, the Senior Compensation Specialist helps ensure our pay practices remain fair, transparent, and informed by reliable market data.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar certification.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in compensation, HR analytics, or total rewards.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation structures, market pricing, and pay equity analysis.
  • Experience leading annual compensation review cycles.
  • Experience in a multi-state or global organization.
  • Experience designing or refining job architecture and leveling frameworks.
  • Familiarity with incentive compensation plan design.
  • Proficiency in compensation survey tools and HRIS systems.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to leadership.

Job Responsibilities

Compensation Strategy & Structure

  • Maintain global compensation frameworks, including salary bands, job architecture, pay ranges, and hourly rate structures.
  • Ensure internal equity and consistency across departments and levels.
  • Evaluate and recommend updates to compensation frameworks to support business growth and talent strategy.
  • Develop and maintain job grading and leveling methodologies.

Market Analysis & Benchmarking

  • Conduct market pricing and benchmarking for new and existing roles using reliable compensation surveys and market data.
  • Analyze market trends and recommend adjustments to maintain competitive pay practices.
  • Partner with People & Culture Managers to establish appropriate pay ranges for new positions.

Annual Compensation Cycle Leadership

  • Lead the annual compensation review process, including merit increases, promotions, and market adjustments.
  • Evaluate current pay and recommend adjustments based on market data and internal equity.
  • Provide analytics and reporting to support leadership decision-making while ensuring alignment with budget and company guidelines.

Pay Equity & Compliance

  • Conduct regular pay equity analyses and address potential disparities.
  • Ensure compliance with compensation regulations across all operating regions.
  • Maintain audit-ready processes and documentation.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop dashboards and reports on pay distribution, trends, and cost impact.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify risks, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare materials for leadership and executive review.

Program Administration & Process Improvement

  • Administer salary surveys and maintain compensation databases.
  • Review compensation-related transactions with People & Culture Managers.
  • Improve compensation processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Support budget reviews for incentive and variable pay programs.

Consultation & Partnership

  • Serve as a compensation subject matter expert for People & Culture Managers and leadership.
  • Provide guidance on offers, promotions, transfers, and organizational changes.
  • Partner with the Equity Compensation Advisor to align job leveling, base pay structures, and long-term incentive eligibility.
