Title: Process Improvement Coordinator, Manufacturing

Location: 292109 Prime Close, Rocky View County, AB (behind the Century Downs Racetrack/Casino in Balzac). This is not on a bus route.

Job Overview Reporting to the Manager, Process Improvement, as the Process Improvement Coordinator, Manufacturing you support the coordination of continuous improvement within the production environment by documenting workflows, analyzing bottlenecks, and initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and quality on the plant floor. You help embed Lean practices, sustain improvements, and ensure accountability for process changes across manufacturing teams.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

  • Documenting and mapping manufacturing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for standardization.
  • Supporting Lean and Six Sigma initiatives on the plant floor, helping reduce waste, improve flow, and strengthen cross-department handoffs.
  • Monitoring operational KPIs and provide trend reporting to the Manager, Process Improvement.
  • Validating inspections, audits, and corrective actions, and ensuring accountability at the source while working directly with supervisors and leads.
  • Maintaining manufacturing process documentation (checklists, SOPs, Site Docs entries) to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Coordinating improvement workshops/events with manufacturing teams, capturing outputs into actionable improvements.
  • Assisting with training and adoption of new processes or standards, ensuring changes are understood and consistently applied by frontline employees.
  • Identifying recurring production issues and escalating them into formal improvement projects.
  • Ensuring documentation and process records are complete, accurate, compliant and audit ready.
  • Sharing best practices in manufacturing efficiency and quality, helping strengthen Star’s culture of operational excellence.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in a process improvement, quality assurance, or operations coordination role (Manufacturing or construction environment is an asset).
  • Knowledge of or Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with auditing practices, compliance standards, and performance metrics.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.

Practical/ Technical Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Experience with workflow mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent).
  • Familiar with SharePoint, SiteDocs, ERP/operations systems
  • Ability to document workflows and create clear SOPs, checklists, and process maps.
  • Skilled in tracking and reporting KPIs (error rates, throughput, rework, delivery).
  • Knowledge of Lean tools.
