Scope of work:
Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) is mining contractor that operates projects in 2 underground mines located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. The work consists of building/ installing mine infrastructure such as high pressure doors, regulator walls, wash bays, maintenance bays, fuel bay, etc.

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Area Manager and client Project’s team, the primary role of the Construction Superintendent is to oversee all aspects of the planning, implementation and completion of construction projects. This position will administer, direct and coordinate activities of the construction crews and coordinate and request the necessary equipment, materials and supplies needed for the project.

Clarify and define parameters and decide on processes to be utilized

Monitor and analyze production and operational reports to ensure acceptable progress on the project

Take appropriate action as critical dates approach to ensure a smooth transition from phase to phase

Develop and lead crew to achieve planned objective

Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and client authorized project work schedules;
-
Supervise sub-contractors and national workforce
-
Ensure that subcontractors have current and accurate plans and specifications
-
Act as principal coordinator and liaison with subcontractors to ensure contract compliance
-
Establish expectations with subcontractors and vendors to ensure solid understanding of contract requirements (including documentation and information), expectations, and timing of required construction and materials.

Minimum 10 years of Construction Superintendent experience (preferred)

Minimum 5 years in a supervisory capacity

Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred)

Ontario Hard Rock Underground Front Line Supervisor – Common Core (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred)
-
Experience in an Underground Mine – lateral, vertical and shaft excavations
-
Knowledge of mine safety legislation and regulations
-
Knowledge of Company and Client maintenance policies and procedures
-
Leadership, conflict resolution and management skills
-
Ability to plan, schedule and monitor work for employees/crews
-
Ability to mentor and encourage others
-
Computer literacy required, working with spreadsheets, business systems, CMMS and email
