About IPAC-NCR

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada – National Capital Region (IPAC-NCR) is a volunteer-led organization that brings together public servants, students, academics, and professionals from across the public sector through networking, professional development, and meaningful conversations. Our mission is to advance excellence in public administration by fostering learning, collaboration, and innovation.

How does communications support IPAC-NCR? The Communications team plays a key role in advancing IPAC-NCR’s mission by promoting events, sharing organizational updates, highlighting volunteer contributions, and engaging our community throughout the year. Through strategic communications, digital engagement, and storytelling, we help strengthen connections with our members and showcase the impact of our programming.

Why Are We Recruiting Coordinators for our working group? As IPAC-NCR continues to grow, we’re expanding our communications team to support our events, initiatives, and member engagement throughout the year. We’re recruiting up to 8 coordinators across 4 opportunities within our working group: 2 Digital Content & Social Media coordinators 2-4 Photographers 2 Newsletter coordinators 2 Website & Digital Experience coordinators Time Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per week, with flexibility depending on communications campaigns, event schedules, and your availability. Whether you’re looking to build communications experience, expand your professional network, strengthen your portfolio, or contribute your skills to a volunteer-led organization, we’d love to hear from you.

General Qualifications

We’re looking for coordinators who: Have an interest in communications, marketing, public engagement, digital media, or storytelling. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Are organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities. Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Work well independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Are comfortable learning new digital tools and adapting to changing priorities. Can commit approximately 5–10 hours per week. Have experience using Microsoft Office 365. Experience with Canva, Wix/WordPress, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, or social media management platforms is considered an asset. Have an interest in public administration, public service, or professional associations (an asset). Previous volunteer or communications experience is welcome but not required. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Available Roles

Digital Content & Social Media Coordinators (2 Positions)

Responsibilities Create engaging content for LinkedIn and other digital platforms. Draft social media captions and promotional copy. Design graphics using Canva or similar tools. Support event promotion before, during, and after events. Highlight volunteer stories, achievements, and organizational initiatives. Help maintain a consistent visual identity across communications.

Additional Assets

Experience creating content for social media. Basic graphic design skills. Photography or short-form video editing experience is an asset.

Event Photographers (2 Positions)

Responsibilities Capture high‑quality photos at IPAC‑NCR events, including speakers, attendees, and key moments. Coordinate with the Communications team to understand event priorities and required shots. Provide edited photos promptly for use in newsletters, social media, and the website. Help build a consistent visual identity across digital platforms through event photography.

Additional Assets

Experience with event or portrait photography. Ability to edit photos using Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar tools.

Note: Must have your own equipment or be able to use a professional camera.

Newsletter Coordinators (2 Positions)

Responsibilities Assist in developing member newsletters and email communications. Coordinate content submissions from various portfolios. Edit communications for clarity, consistency, grammar, and accessibility. Support newsletter scheduling and distribution. Help communicate volunteer opportunities, organizational updates, and upcoming events.

Additional Assets

Strong writing and editing skills. Experience with Mailchimp or another email marketing platform is an asset. Experience developing newsletters or communications products.

Website & Digital Experience Coordinator (2 Positions)

Responsibilities Update website content, event pages, and organizational information. Review webpages for accuracy, accessibility, and consistency. Support website improvements and content organization. Work with the Communications team to ensure website content remains current. Help improve the online experience for members and prospective volunteers.

Additional Assets

Experience using WordPress or another content management system. Basic understanding of website accessibility and user experience principles. Experience maintaining websites or digital content is an asset. What You’ll Gain?
