We’re looking for a Display Technician with an eye for design and technical skills to help create a truly immersive experience at the Burnaby Village Museum. Our museum features fascinating exhibits which transport visitors to Burnaby’s storied past. This is exciting, creative work where you’ll play a role in bringing this history to life. As a Display Technician, you’ll be putting your trades and technical skills to work by assisting in creating and installing displays and exhibits under supervision; maintaining and repairing displays; maintaining costumes and installing and de-installing event decorations and props including packing, moving and unpacking supplies. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in one or more relevant trades, and preferably some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You should have working knowledge of the standard practices, tools, and equipment used in carpentry and painting, as well as having an understanding of the hazards and proper safety precautions of the work. Having some knowledge of the practice of commercial display is an asset. You have an ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions, an ability to assist a supervisor in the performance of a variety of trades tasks, and skills in the use of a variety of materials, tools and equipment used in the work. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.
Pay Rate:$29.48 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
$31.58 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2026 Rates)
**Location:**Burnaby Village Museum
**Hours of work:**This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts are Monday to Friday 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.
