Role Summary:

CPP Investments is seeking an Intern to join the internal audit team, Assurance & Advisory (“A&A”), for a four-month term starting September 2026, based in our Toronto office. The A&A team provides independent assurance over the adequacy and effectiveness of CPP Investments’ governance, risk management, and internal controls.

The team performs audits and advisory engagements across the organization, including Public Markets, Private Markets, and Technology & Operations, with results reported regularly to Management, senior executives, and the Audit Committee. As part of the team, interns contribute directly to audit engagements while gaining an enterprise-wide perspective across a global investment organization.

This role supports A&A’s continued evolution toward more data-enabled assurance, using technology and analytics to enhance risk identification, testing coverage, and insight generation.

Accountabilities & Qualifications:

  • Support the planning and execution of audit engagements, including control testing and business process documentation.
  • Aggregate, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to support audit testing and risk assessment.
  • Use programming and analytical techniques to enable full population-level testing and identify trends, anomalies, or risk indicators.
  • Apply data science and automation techniques to optimize risk-based audit planning, testing, and reporting.
  • Evaluate opportunities to deploy Generative AI (GenAI), Copilot, and similar AI-assisted tools to accelerate insight generation and knowledge management.
  • Assist in identifying, collecting, and validating audit evidence and supporting documentation
  • Translate analytical findings into clear insights and visualizations to support audit conclusions and management discussions.
  • Document work and testing results clearly and accurately in accordance with established audit methodology.
  • Collaborate with team members and business partners to understand business context, risks, and data sources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit testing through automation or process enhancements.

Fall Internship Program: Your experience begins with Intern Orientation in September, where you’ll connect with fellow interns and gain a broad understanding of how the Fund operates across teams and functions. Throughout the term, you will have the opportunity to engage in organization-wide events and initiatives while building your skillset through hands-on, on-the-job learning aligned with your team’s priorities.

You’ll also participate in a cross-functional Intern Hackathon, collaborating with peers across departments to solve real business challenges. The program emphasizes mentorship, networking, and social events to help you build meaningful connections across the organization. Interns are encouraged to get involved in our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to expand their networks and contribute to our inclusive culture.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates pursuing an undergraduate degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline such as analytics, data science, computer science, engineering, accounting, or finance, and returning to school inWinter of 2027.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in governance, risk management, and assurance, and an eagerness to learn how data and technology can enhance these areas.
  • Experience applyingPython, Tableau, and Excelto analyze and validate data, automate routine tasks, visualize data, and support insight generation in academic or project-based settings.
  • Contributes analytical thinking and professional skepticism when evaluating risks, controls, and business processes.
  • Exposure or hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Snowflake is an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with AI platforms such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, or related programs is an asset.
  • Supports the preparation of clear, accurate documentation aligned with established audit methodologies and standards.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and managers, asks thoughtful questions, and incorporates feedback into assigned work.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and business partners to support audit delivery and team objectives.
  • Demonstrate integrity, partnership, and a commitment to high performance.
