Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As Vice President, Banking Strategy and Operations, you will be a strategic, forward-thinking leader who drives the transformation of Vancity’s banking operations. You’ll lead the team that forms the operational backbone of our banking system, making the organization stronger, more efficient, and future-ready.

You will set the direction for operational strategy, regulatory compliance, and innovation while ensuring all banking functions are aligned with Vancity’s purpose-driven mission and long-term objectives. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will turn vision into action - delivering transformation initiatives that simplify operations, strengthen internal controls, and enhance both the member and employee experience. You will foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and equity in service of our members.

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Head of Banking Operations.

How You'll Make an Impact:

1. Strategic Leadership & Enterprise Banking Operations

  • Lead the strategic direction, performance, and transformation of Vancity’s banking operations, including a multi-year roadmap for automation and modernization to enable scalable, member-centric growth
  • Create a 5 plan to transform banking operations to be member centric, efficient, and scalable
  • Make enterprise-wide decisions on operational banking strategy, policy alignment, and banking transformation initiatives
  • Represent banking operations at senior leadership tables, ensuring alignment of strategic intent and operational execution and ensuring business outcomes are met efficiently and effectively
  • Work with the executive team on strategic planning, including revenue growth, capability development, and the operationalization of mergers and acquisition

2. Business Transformation, Optimization & Automation

  • Drive process simplification and digital automation across banking operations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and member centricity
  • Eliminate friction by reengineering legacy processes and systems to enable faster, more resilient, and more member centric delivery
  • Drive innovation by piloting emerging technologies and tools that enhance operational excellence and member value
  • Engage with external partners and vendors to lead the evaluation, selection and implementation of automation and optimization technology

3. Organizational Compliance, Reconciliation & Controls

  • Accountable for Vancity’s compliance program.
  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction to the Chief Compliance Officer and broader compliance function
  • Strengthen and modernize risk management, audit practices, and internal controls to ensure compliance with all regulatory and operational standards while ensuring compliance is enabling business outcomes
  • Partner with senior leaders in Legal, Risk, and Audit to guide enterprise governance decisions.

4. Revenue Enablement

  • Partner with senior leaders in all three lines of business to ensure insight and analytics are informing business strategy and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the operations team to effectively support existing and future revenue streams, enabling growth through scalable, high-performance systems and services
  • Align operational design with volume growth, customer experience expectations, and evolving business models
  • Implement systems and tools that enhance visibility, data quality, and decision-making
  • Ensure comprehensive workforce planning strategies to ensure resource alignment with service demands and growth
  • Partner with senior leaders in all three lines of business on their revenue goals by ensuring efficient processes are in place to support workload, and volume demands while ensuring a positive member experience

5. Mergers and Acquisitions

  • Lead operational integration efforts during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions
  • Create unified operational structures and scalable processes that preserve service continuity, enhance efficiency, and deliver synergies

6. Senior Leadership for Strategic Initiatives

  • Sponsor and lead transformational initiatives that reshape service models, compliance readiness, and operational agility.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts that improve service integration, compliance readiness, and cost optimization.
  • Provide senior leader sponsorship for enterprise-level initiatives with significant operational implications.
  • Guide cross-functional teams and enterprise partners through complex, multi-year change journeys.

7. Inclusive, Purpose Driven Leadership

  • Foster an inclusive, equity-informed environment grounded in reconciliation and member advocacy
  • Role model curiosity, resilience, and adaptive leadership
  • Ensure that every operational decision reflects Vancity’s values and strengthens community and member trust
  • Ensure there is a lens of reconciliation and equity in all we do

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • 8-10 years of people leadership experience
  • Experience in banking operations, strategic execution, or process transformation, ideally in a member or customer focused environment
  • Proven success leading automation, digitization, and operational improvement initiatives
  • Track record of leading high-performing, cross-functional teams through complex change
  • Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset and a passion for purpose-driven innovation
  • Experience with operationalization of mergers and acquisitions is an asset
  • Experience with revenue growth is an asset

What You’ll Earn:

The salary range for this role is $177,200 to $266,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
