Come grow with us...North American Stamping is expanding and looking to hire. We are looking for a Tool and Die Estimator to join our Sales & Engineering Team in Woodstock ON.

As Tool and Die Estimator you will be responsible for the completion of tool and die quotes accurately and on time, identifying any initial GD&T or feasibility concerns. Unfold customer supplied CAD data, produce a blank layout, identify the process and estimate tooling cost. Data is to be entered into a quote model and presented to the cost estimator. Send tooling RFQ’s to vendors as applicable and follow up as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Read, analyze, interpret, and understand engineering documents and blueprints in order to complete an accurate quotation.
  • Provide blank layout, Process lineup, Blank size, Press size, Tool cost, Gauge cost, Tool lead time and SPM to cost estimator for generation of final customer quotations.
  • Produce 20-25 Tool/Die quotations per day.
  • Accurate completion of quotations, as required in a logical time sensitive manner.
  • Work with outside Tool shops to gather quotes for cost, timing and feasibility.
  • Utilize NASG product standards in order to provide consistent quotations.
  • Summarize and analyze outside tooling supplier quotes.
  • Align with Product / Process Engineering, Sales- BDM’s and AM’s, as well as plant personnel for quote preparation as required
  • Review all print info for manufacturing feasibility and mark drawing accordingly.
  • Participation in and support the Lean Manufacturing Process.
  • Additional duties as required by the Quoting Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Mechanical Engineering (Degree, Technologist or Technician) or C of Q Tool and Die
  • Solidworks, Unigraphics NX, or other 3D cad software
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years in Metal stamping,
  • Blueprint reading including GD&T
  • Proficient with SolidWorks or Unigraphics NX
  • Expert level understanding of metal stamping dies and part processing.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of automotive stamping plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, metal materials, stamping/welding/assembly manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment system and processes, die design, maintenance, and machine operation.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand engineering documents and blueprints such as 2D/3D automotive drawings (component, assembly, and equipment), technical standards.
  • Possess a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • General understanding and working knowledge of basic engineering principles.

Language Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Computer/Software:

  • SolidWorks
  • Unigraphics NX
  • FastBlank (or other blank unfolding software)
  • Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

**Office:**Open Office Environment

**Plant:**Various types of manufacturing environments.

  • Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
  • Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.
