Safe Management Group is seeking a Compliance Coordinator to lead workplace health & safety compliance and end-to-end WSIB claims management across all divisions of the Company.
This role is hands-on and operational, with a strong focus on injury reporting, return-to-work coordination, and regulatory compliance under Ontario legislation.
Key Responsibilities
WSIB & Injury Management
- Manage all workplace injury and illness claims, including lost-time and no-lost-time claims
- Report workplace injuries to WSIB within legislated timelines
- Act as the primary point of contact with WSIB, employees, and operational leaders
- Coordinate modified duties and return-to-work programs, ensuring early and safe reintegration
- Maintain accurate injury records, analyze trends, identify root causes, and recommend preventative measures
- Provide ongoing claims updates, documentation, and correspondence as required
Health & Safety Compliance
- Oversee Join Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) operations and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Conduct and review workplace inspections, environmental audits, organize JHSC meetings, and violence risk assessments
- Track corrective actions and follow-up with leadership to ensure timely resolution
- Maintain health & safety documentation, records, and reporting
Training & Certification Oversight
- Partner with the Coordinator of Residential Services to oversee internal training delivery, including Initial Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) and CIT refresher sessions across residential locations
- Coordinate and support in-home training delivery, ensure training is scheduled, documented, and completed in accordance with internal and legislative requirements
- Maintain oversight of internal trainers, including receipt and review of training documentation and compliance updates
- Generate and issue Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certifications and maintain accurate employee training and certification records
- Track mandatory health and safety certifications (e.g., First Aid & CPR) and ensure ongoing compliance
Incident Management & Prevention
- Review internal incident reports and liaise with supervisors and employees as required
- Support the development and enforcement of health & safety policies and procedures
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on prevention and compliance
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Health Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
- JHSC certification (Part I & II) or willingness to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Proven experience managing WSIB claims and return-to-work programs
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and WSIB legislation
- Experience coordinating health & safety programs in multi-site and/or frontline environments
- WSIB and return-to-work-specific training considered a strong asset
- Excellent documentation, organizational, and stakeholder communication skills

Work Schedule and Location

- This role is primarily office-based, with occasional on-site visits to residential treatment homes located in Oakville and Mississauga
Compensation
- $30.00 per hour (approximately $62,400 annually, based on a 40-hour work week)
- Eligibility for annual performance reviews, with opportunities for performance-based wage increases

Safe Management's Crisis Intervention Program is recognized by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and is the preferred program and recognized by Public Service Health and Safety Association who partnered with Safe Management in 2010.
Safe Management has been providing training since 1991 and have trained over 500,000 front-line staff in Ontario alone. Our training programs have been developed by a team of professionals; Psychologists, BACB-Ds, Behaviour Therapists, and world renowned physical intervention specialists to ensure the unique needs of individuals are understood. We have developed specialized training programs and consultation services that are flexible, comprehensive, and evidence based. We conduct research on all of our training programs and services ensuring ongoing satisfaction, and effectiveness in managing and reducing risks in the workplace
