About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Developer/Designer, specializing in industrial design with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles. In this key role, you will lead the design and development of new ergonomic products, as well as refine existing product lines to enhance performance, manufacturability, and user experience. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with sales teams, product managers, and clients to develop innovative, customized solutions that meet specific requirements. Your expertise in engineering software, particularly SolidWorks and Revit, will be vital in translating concepts into functional prototypes and finished products. The role provides a blend of creative design, hands-on prototyping, and project management, allowing you to make a tangible impact on our product offerings and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product development and industrial design, with a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, with working knowledge of Revit being highly preferred. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Valid passport and the ability to travel internationally, particularly to the United States, as needed. Valid driver’s license with the ability to rent and operate vehicles. Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs, reflecting the hands-on nature of prototype building and testing. Exceptional problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
Design and develop new ergonomic products utilizing engineering software, primarily SolidWorks and Revit, ensuring designs meet client specifications and industry standards. Create and refine custom components based on product manager guidance and client requirements, translating concepts into functional, manufacturable designs. Update and maintain existing product designs and engineering files, ensuring accuracy, version control, and compliance with company standards. Collaborate with sales and product teams to develop innovative, customized solutions that address specific client needs and market trends. Fine-tune product designs to optimize performance, quality, and ease of manufacturing, incorporating feedback from prototypes and testing. Engage in hands-on work, including building prototypes, testing products, and evaluating performance to inform design improvements. Manage and organize design files and documentation meticulously, ensuring clarity and accessibility for team members and manufacturing partners. Support ongoing enhancements to current product inventory, ensuring continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Occasionally travel to trade shows, client sites, and installation locations across Canada and the United States to support product deployment and gather customer feedback.
