Position Summary

To continue to improve and support the College – Loyalist College is currently seeking to fill the position of Associate Dean, Health Studies to support our School of Health, Human and Justice Studies. The School of Health, Human and Justice Studies resides in the College’s newly renovated Northumberland Wing, housing experiential learning environments, interprofessional simulation centres and high-tech classrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide broad academic leadership and operational effectiveness to nursing and allied health programming within the school of Health, Human and Justice Studies
  • Deliver with a keen focus on the academic well-being and growth of students by providing support and direction to faculty and staff.
  • Ensure the objectives of the programs are attained through effective management of teaching and learning processes which includes managements of compliance with governmental, regulator and accrediting bodies and budget responsibility
  • Facilitate on-going quality assurance processes for existing programs and development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry in alignment with the College’s strategic plan.
  • Establishes positive relationships with industry and business representatives and contributes to the College’s student recruitment, applied research and work/integrated learning initiatives
  • Responsible for the effective delivery of nursing and allied health programs through effective management, quality assurance, provision of resources and deep understanding of student experiences
  • Plans operational effectiveness for student enrolment and ensures the accuracy of data for course loading, student timetables, calendar materials, course outlines, etc.
  • Fosters an environment that model’s diversity and inclusion, innovation, and effective communication/interaction amongst and between faculty, staff and students.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in administration or management, preferably in health, wellness, health simulation, or a related field
  • Experience within the college system is preferred
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing is required
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Teaching experience, preferably in the college sector, considered an asset
  • Experience managing budgets and funding allocations required
  • Coordination and/or management experience in the post-secondary sector are highly valued
  • Successful candidate must be organized and able to multi-task.
  • Program development and curriculum design knowledge required. Additional knowledge on adult learning principles considered an asset.
  • Self-directed team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to create and maintain effective relationships and working partnerships internal and external to the College
  • Computer literacy and experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications required
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills gained from collaborating across multiple constituencies and/or within a unionized environment are essential
