We focus on client adoption of disruptive technologies, technology architecture and providing specialized skills related to integration, custom software engineering, testing, application modernization, agile and more. We help our clients with the most complex projects including working in open web platforms, DevOps platforms as well as intelligent Computing and Architecture enhancement.
The Work:
This role leads modernization visioning, platform transformation, application decomposition, and solution design for systems running on IBM z/OS, Unisys, or Micro Focus/Rocket re-hosted environments. The architect ensures that solutions meet business requirements, modernization objectives, and enterprise architecture standards while balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
Responsibilities:

Lead architecture discussions with business, SMEs, and technical teams.

Act as a thought leader for modernization strategy, tools, and best practices.

Provide mentorship to developers, analysts, and architects in modernizing legacy systems.

Engage with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, and integration teams.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.

Strong stakeholder management across technical and business domains.
-
Proven leadership in multi-team delivery environments.

Ability to balance innovation with practical constraints of large enterprise systems.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors or college diploma in computer science or related discipline.
-
7+ years of experience with mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, MQ).
-
Strong understanding of mainframe internals such as memory, storage, parallelism, job scheduling, and transaction processing.
-
Experience with large-scale modernization strategies and patterns (re-hosting, refactoring, code conversion, API enablement, replacement).
-
Experience with cloud migration strategies and hybrid architecture.
-
Familiarity with code analysis tools, modernization automation platforms, and mainframe profiling utilities.
-
Familiarity with GenAI based tools and capabilities.
-
English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with English-speaking stakeholders across Canada. Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking stakeholders, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Hogan systems (CIS, CAMS, IDS).
- Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Server, Enterprise Developer, or Rocket Express.
- Experience with Azure modernization (App Services, APIM, Event Grid, Service Bus).
- Experience with IBM z/OS utilities, REXX scripting, or performance tools (Omegamon, RACF knowledge).
- Experience with GenAI tools in leveraged in Mainframe modernization.
- Strong experience shaping target-state architecture for legacy modernization.
- Expertise in application decomposition, domain modeling, and blueprint creation.
- Hands-on experience with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and modeling languages (UML, ArchiMate).
- Ability to define architecture roadmaps and govern solution implementation.
- Knowledge of DevOps for mainframe, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code scanning.
