Job Description
At General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada, we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help expand our Land C5ISR portfolio in Ottawa. This role is focused on generating new business and strengthening our position in the market. You’ll work alongside senior Business Development leaders to identify and pursue strategic opportunities, build trusted customer and industry relationships, and contribute to capture activities, including RFIs and RFPs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support market research by gathering and analysing open‑source information, competitor data, and industry trends to identify new opportunities for the Land & Joint business unit.
- Assist in customer outreach by maintaining existing contacts and conduct outreach (calls, emails, site visits) to deepen relationships with Canadian defence customers and industry partners.
- Help prepare sales and marketing materials by contributing to the creation of presentations, brochures, white papers, and briefing decks that translate technical capabilities into clear business value.
- Track opportunities in CRM by logging leads, updating pipeline status, and generating basic forecast reports for senior management review.
- Participate in bid support by providing background research, gathering required data, and assist the Capture & Proposal team on RFIs/RFPs (collating past performance, pricing inputs etc.
- Coordinate events and trade‑show activities by supporting logistics, booth preparation, and follow‑up actions after industry conferences or customer workshops.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally by working with engineering, program management, and contracts to ensure a consistent message and timely delivery of information.
- Contribute to internal reviews by attend pursuit decision meetings and post‑mortem debriefs to learn capture processes and provide input where appropriate.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales support, or a related role (defence or technology sectors preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Software Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a comparable technical/analytical discipline or military experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable preparing simple briefing materials and interacting with customers.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks while seeking guidance on more complex items.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics).
- Willingness to travel 10‑15 % for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

What We Offer
The expected hiring range for this position is $115,000-$150,000 CAD annual. This opportunity is eligible for the Management incentive Plan.
