Position Summary:
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Financial Assistant supports the Credit and Accounts Receivable departments with processing and posting customer accounts, setting up customer accounts, reviewing daily tax and purchase order corrections, and assisting the Financial Managers and Financial Coordinator as necessary.
Major Responsibilities:
- Process and post Customer Account payments, balancing batches in accordance with financial policies and procedures. This could include cheques, credit card, branch deposit, & EFT's.
- Research customer payment discrepancies (i.e.: reconcile short payments, over payments, and communicating with branch or customers as required). Maintain records of same and update ongoing resolution.
- Set up new customer accounts in the ERP system.
- Manage trade reference requests and assist on customer credit reviews.
- Assist with various reports (inactive customer, unapplied cash, tax reporting, purchase order corrections, etc.)
- Work closely with Finance team to support ongoing technology initiatives.
- Other duties assigned, including but not limited to, cross training with Accounts Payable Department.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum secondary education, business diploma or degree with financial concentration or relevant finance experience required.
- At least 2-4 years’ experience in working in a credit environment would be considered an asset.
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Proficient in Power BI and Microsoft CoPilot would be considered an asset.
- Ability to create reports and write documentation.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Actively participate in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship builder – able to establish both internal and external customer working relationships.
- Willingness to go the extra mile.
- Experience with SX Enterprise is an asset
Working Conditions
- Ability to sit continuously for over 3/4 of normal work shift, and stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 1/3 of the nromal work shift.
- Ability to talk or hear continuously.
- Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 2/3 of the normal work shift.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch.
- May be required to work additional hours per business requirements.
