Location: East coast of Labrador (approximately 350 km North of Goose Bay and 35 km Southwest of Nain)
Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off
Shift Length: 12 hours
Travel: Flight from airport closest to point of hire
Accommodation: Remote site - Camp setting

Scope Of Work Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade. Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.
The scope of work is to maintain the fleet of mining equipment such as jumbos, bolters, underground haul trucks, scoops, scissor lift all other associated mining equipment.
Responsibilities Job Summary: The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment, generators, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem
- Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations/testing and adjusting such components.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required
- Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Comply with all Redpath and Owners safety regulations and procedures.

- Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to the supervisor
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
- Work in accordance with local legislation
Qualifications Skills and Qualifications:
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyperson qualification required (or equivalent Journeyperson qualification)
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blue print) required
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Service Type Common Core or other provincial equivalent preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment required
- 2 years’ experience in an underground mining environment required
- Ability to multitask and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to read, and understand Hydraulic/Electrical Schematics
- Ability to use and understand Engine/Powertrain Diagnostic Software, both Handheld, and computer based.
- Ability to use/understand parts and service manuals, able to make parts lists for repairs required and or use service manuals to assist in diagnostics, and proper repair procedures.
- Ability to Service/Diagnose Diesel Engines of many types and makes
- Ability to Service/Diagnose All Powertrain/Brake Components of Many types and makes
- Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components.
