Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance – Programs, the Manager; Maintenance Training, is responsible for overseeing and developing comprehensive training programs to ensure the proficiency and compliance of our Aircraft Maintenance Staff. This role is crucial for maintaining high safety, performance, and regulatory adherence to standards within the Maintenance department. In working with the Maintenance Training Coordinator, the Manager will lead and execute the design, implementation, continuous improvement and record-keeping of training systems, curricula and training interval compliance reports, and mentor and coach Maintenance staff in a live maintenance setting.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Maintain the effectiveness of training programs and ensure compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and other standards.
  • In cooperation with the Maintenance Training coordinator, direct and manage all Aircraft Maintenance training programs and activities, including course creation and facilitation.
  • Onboard and train all new Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Technicians.
  • Monitor regulatory authorities for amendments and ensure training programs comply.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Management and Training Teams to update training tools and programs.
  • Optimize training resources and activities to ensure efficient use of facilities, instructors, contracts, tools, and trainees.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for the Learning Management System (LMS) and Qualification Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure that all Maintenance courses are up to date and compliant.
  • Develop and update training standards and procedural documents as required.
  • Coordinate with other company departments to ensure continuity in training programs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance with training practices for international operations.
  • Work with the Quality and Safety Team on training-related issues identified through the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Ensure accurate documentation and retention of training records and certification documents.
  • Promote occupational health and safety within the department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Minimum five years of relevant professional experience. Airline and/or Aircraft Maintenance Training experience preferred.
  • AME licence with either M1 and/or M2 rating, but preferably both.
  • Knowledge of airline industry regulations (TC, TSB, CTA, ICAO, FAA, etc.).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Previous experience with Aviation Management Software considered an asset (WinAir preferred).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances.
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This is an onsite role
  • Physically able to perform all listed job duties.
  • Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role.
  • Various shifts at a fast pace to meet service level requirements of the airline.
  • Company phone will be provided for after-hour inquiries.
