Position Summary:

As the Engineering Manager at Arrow Engineered Products, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the estimation process and providing leadership in engineering activities. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of custom machining and fabrication work, ensuring accurate project assessments and successful execution. The Engineering Manager will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that align with business objectives while ensuring technical excellence, fostering innovation and driving the professional growth of team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Estimation:
    • Lead the estimation team in preparing detailed and accurate project cost estimates for custom machining and fabrication work.
    • Collaborate with production, planning, and procurement to gather necessary information for precise estimations.
    • Analyze project specifications, technical drawings, and client requirements to develop comprehensive cost assessments.
    • Reviewing and approving all estimates and engineering deliverables, ensuring that they meet the project scope, specifications, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Engineering Leadership:
    • Provide leadership to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
    • Perform and oversee the design and engineering processes, maintaining a focus on quality, compliance, and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to streamline project workflows.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Work closely with production managers to coordinate and prioritize engineering activities based on project schedules.
    • Ensure effective communication between the estimation and engineering teams to address any challenges and optimize project outcomes.
  • Vendor Relations:
    • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing for materials and services.
    • Evaluate vendor capabilities and performance to support the estimation and engineering processes.
  • Estimation:
    • Support the estimation team in preparing detailed and accurate project cost estimates for custom machining and fabrication work.
    • Collaborate with production, planning, and procurement to gather necessary information for precise estimations.
    • Analyze project specifications, technical drawings, and client requirements to develop comprehensive cost assessments.
    • Reviewing and approving all estimates and engineering deliverables, ensuring that they meet the project scope, specifications, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in estimation and engineering workflows.
    • Developing and implementing best practices, standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies for estimating and engineering activities, in alignment with Arrow’s policies and objectives.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements to enhance project efficiency and quality.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, Peng. Ontario

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • 10+ years’ experience in metal manufacturing, fabrication, machining
  • 5+ years of people management experience as an asset
  • Working knowledge and experience with the CSA B51 standard, ANSI B31.1 codes, ASME Section VIII
  • Knowledge of pressure boundary work including pressure vessel design, analysis, code classification, code class boundary, non-destructive examination and design registration process, Stamping Authority for pressure vessel / components
  • Proven experience in engineering management, preferably in custom machining and fabrication.
  • In-depth knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for estimation and engineering.
  • Knowledge of/experience using nuclear pressure boundary Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Sections III.
  • Full understanding of Purchasing requirements in designated code environments
  • Power generation, nuclear, medical and other industrial sector knowledge
