About the role

Title: Pre-Construction VDC Coordinator

What you will be doing: As a Preconstruction Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the early stages of construction projects, ensuring seamless coordination and planning. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about integrating technology with construction processes. You will be responsible for and managing projects from the pursuit phase through preconstruction and into construction, utilizing advanced BIM techniques to enhance project management and planning. This role offers continuous professional development opportunities, fostering expertise in both BIM and project management.

  • Utilize BIM/VDC tools and platforms for coordination, constructability reviews, planning, site logistics, and Virtual Reality.
  • Develop BIM Execution Plans (BEP) to standardize the development, use, and exchange of digital data.
  • Plan and develop 2D/3D logistics construction phasing and sequencing drawings.
  • Complete BIM-based quantity take-offs from 3D models as well as 2D drawings and manipulate data.
  • Prepare 4D & 5D simulations.
  • Read and interpret construction schedules.
  • Create and manage 3D models, perform clash detection, chair BIM coordination meetings, and assist in developing solutions with the project team and design consultants.
  • Review drawings, detect deficiencies (e.g., miscoordination or missing information), and issue RFIs to the consultants.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand and optimize preconstruction processes and requirements.
  • Create templates and families in Revit to set a company-wide standard for working within BIM.
  • Perform conversion from 2D CAD drawings to 3D models for project visualization.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings with clients and consultants.
  • Support the evaluation of new BIM tools and technologies to enhance pre-construction workflows.
  • Maintain lessons learned from past projects, when reviewing drawings, specifications and models, to ensure the same mistakes don't arise in the future.
  • Support activities related to the procurement and tendering processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum post-secondary degree/diploma in construction (i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, etc.) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction experience.
  • Experience working with BIM projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Revit.
  • Excellent drawing comprehension of Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, and Structural Drawings.
  • Experience with clash detection software and ability to resolve clashes.
  • Willingness/adaptability to learn new skills and software packages to accommodate project needs.
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing would be a valuable asset.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project would be a valuable asset.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate a reliable, responsive, and positive work ethic.

Pay Transparency: The estimated salary range for this role is $65,000- $75,000.

The posted salary range reflects the expected base pay for this role. Actual compensation will depend on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. SKYGRiD is committed to pay equity and transparency, and further details will be shared during the hiring process.
