Trail Manager (Full Time)

About us: The North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) is a volunteer driven non-profit organization dedicated to caring for a sustainable trail network within the community. Our vision is Trails for All and Trails Forever.
Our purpose is to preserve and enhance accessibility, to cyclists and other members of the community, of trails on the North Shore of Vancouver, and to maintain, repair, improve and construct trails on the North Shore. The NSMBA operates on the shared territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish ) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Employment: Full time (30-40 hours per week)
Pay: $35-$40/hour (based on experience and skill) plus benefits
About you: The Trail Manager oversees trail projects and maintenance priorities and is responsible for leading the trail crew and supporting our volunteer builders. Integral to the NSMBA’s relationships with land managers, the Trail Manager is a main point of contact and represents the NSMBA at land manager meetings and trail walk throughs. They report to the Executive Director and collaborate with staff to ensure projects adhere to budgets and are reported on according to NSMBA practices and land manager expectations. Key Responsibilities
Trail Work Develop, manage, and oversee approved trail projects, maintenance priorities, trail crew work, and volunteer builder activity Support the trail planning and strategy involving the community, Board of Directors, the Trails Working Group, and additional stakeholders Collaborate with NSMBA staff to ensure trail projects are fiscally responsible (ie: grant applications, capital projects, funding reports and sponsorship opportunities) Ensure that the trail crew completes priority projects efficiently, adhering to safety protocols, land manager trail standards and reporting requirements
Working with Land Managers
Be the main point of contact with land managers including, but not limited to: regular meetings trail project planning (including walk throughs) permit applications
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

Trail building, sustainable trail design, or trail maintenance Parks, recreation, or outdoor recreation management Forestry, natural resource management, environmental studies, or environmental stewardship Construction, civil works, landscape construction, or construction management Project management, project coordination, or field operations management The successful applicant will meet the following requirements: Experience and expertise in trail building Demonstrated tact and diplomacy, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders Supervisory or management experience Background in planning or project management Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision Knowledge of Google Drive Strong communication skills, verbal and written Familiarity with the North Shore Trails and mountain biking First Aid Class 5 Drivers License
Additional Information: The NSMBA does not have dedicated office space so employees work remotely and on the north shore trail network.
