About the role

Job Overview The Patient Services Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality care, by ensuring that all service users receive appropriate nutrition and hydration in line with their individual care plans.

This role involves preparing, serving, and assisting patients with meals and meal choices, this also includes specific dietary requirements while promoting dignity, choice, and independence for patients. The role also involves assisting ward staff with cleaning of bed space areas and making and cleaning beds to assist nursing staff.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be expected to work as an integrated member of the ward team, and will be guided by the local and Trust policy andprocedures.
  • To demonstrate care and compassion whilst ensuring that patients’ needs are met
  • To carry out non-nursing duties as delegated by the registered nurse; using own initiative within the level of competence expected for therole.

Person specification education, training Essential Criteria

  • Good basic education – reading and writing plus basic numeric skills
  • Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications for work related training
