Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Communications and Marketing, the Associate Manager, Digital Communications supports the development and execution of brand-aligned digital content across Covenant House Toronto’s social media channels and website. This role plays an integral part in advancing the organization’s integrated digital communications strategy and strengthening Covenant House Toronto’s leadership position in supporting and empowering youth to pursue a life of wellness and opportunity. This is a hands-on role for a digitally fluent communicator who is equally comfortable shaping strategy, creating content, and translating performance insights into action.
We are currently recruiting for 1 Full-time, Permanent Associate Manager, Digital Communications. This is a replacement position within the organization.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking a digitally savvy, creative, and collaborative storyteller with strong initiative and organizational skills. The ideal candidate brings at least five years of recent, relevant experience developing and executing social media and website content strategies.
You have strong experience creating content that is both audience-centred and discoverable, with demonstrated knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) best practices. You understand how to craft and structure content to perform well across traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven discovery platforms, and you can translate search insights into clear, compelling digital storytelling.
You are skilled in a range of storytelling formats and channels, with experience leveraging influencers, podcasts, video, and emerging platforms to extend reach and deepen engagement. You are confident managing website content using WordPress or similar CMS platforms and using analytics and monitoring tools including Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Meltwater, and related platforms to assess performance, generate insights, and continuously refine content and search strategies.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working across teams to deliver thoughtful, strategic digital content, while also taking ownership of projects, balancing competing priorities, and contributing to shared organizational goals.
Experience working in the non-profit sector is considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy and Community Management: 40%
- Support the development and execution Covenant House Toronto’s annual social media and website content strategy with direction from the Manager, Digital Communications and Marketing.
- Plan and prepare weekly editorial content calendars across key social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
- Create engaging, trauma-informed social media content that reflects youth experiences and aligns with Covenant House Toronto’s brand voice and values.
- Produce and edit engaging social media videos, graphics and other assets using tools such as CapCut and Canva.
- Identify and develop compelling storytelling opportunities by collaborating with teams across the organization.
- Plan and deliver integrated social media campaigns that promote Covenant House Toronto’s events, and support public relations and fundraising efforts.
- Lead daily digital community management by actively monitoring and engaging with audiences across social channels, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
- Recommend and implement optimized social media strategies aligned with campaign objectives, content goals and using performance insights with support from the Manager, Digital Communications and Marketing,
- Monitor and escalate public inquiries or emerging issues to internal teams and coordinate responses.
Website Management 40%
- Manage and maintain Covenant House Toronto’s website content using WordPress, including creating, editing, and organizing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and responsive design based on the website writing style guide.
- With support from the Manager, Digital Communications and Marketing, plan and implement a thoughtful search engine optimization (SEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) strategies to help continuously improve website discoverability and engagement.
- Monitor website functionality and performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate updates with technical leads, as required.
- Ensure website content aligns with the organization’s broader storytelling narratives and overall organization strategy.
- Follow current websites digital best practices, accessibility standards and evolving website technologies.
- Monitor organic search performance using Google Search Console and recommend improvements based on data-driven insights.
Performance Analysis and Reporting: 20%
- Monitor and evaluate key metrics and KPIs for social media using Meltwater, including engagement, reach, campaign performance, and broader sector and media analysis trends and provide recommendations.
- Track and analyze website performance using Google Analytics 4.
- Monitor and track SEO performance and organic search trends using Google Search Console.
- Support the development of quarterly performance reports summarizing key insights, results, and recommendations across social media and website channels.
Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree or college diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant work experience in social media content strategy and website management.
- Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, algorithms, emerging digital trends, and SEO and GEO-based content writing practices.
- Experience with AI is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- Strong research, analysis and report-writing skills.
- Experience using digital analytics and monitoring tools, including Meltwater, Google Analytics, Googe Search Console, SEMrush, or similar platforms.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize competing and time-sensitive priorities and project deadlines.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn the landscape of youth homelessness and youth-serving organizations in Toronto and across Canada.
- Experience using AI tools for communications or content development is an asset.
- Ability to prioritize competing, time-sensitive projects and thrive in a dynamic environment.
