Position Title: Winder Setup

Position Description

As a Line Feeder, you will be responsible for maintaining material flow and distribution to production as scheduled by the Value Stream Manager. This role requires the ability to work independently, operate material-handling equipment, and communicate effectively with the supply chain and production teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Selects coil-forming device for specified coil and fastens device onto machine mandrel.
  • Feeds strip through the machine and weld start leads onto the strip. Wind strip to specific turn and weld finish leads.
  • Feeds wire from reel through tension device, guides, and spreader, bends wire ends to form lead, and attaches lead to coil core.
  • Turns setscrews to adjust tension on wire and sets counter to zero.
  • Starts machine and manually feeds wire over coil core to obtain even and uniform winding and shape of coil.
  • Observes counter and stops machine at the specified number of turns.
  • Wrap insulation between layers and around wound coil or inserts, cooling ducts.
  • Cut wire to form leads, using wire or bolt cutters.
  • Pounds coil with hammer or mallet to shape end windings or remove the coil from fixtures.
  • Wind paper around the coil.
  • Strips insulation from ends of lead wires, thread lead wires through insulating sleeves or slide sleeves over leads, and solder lead wires.
  • Stop the machines to remove the completed coil using hand tools.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly role is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Good communication skills and teamwork capabilities
  • Willingness to comply with safety regulations and practices

Shift Schedule

  • Training: Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • Regular Shift: Monday - Thursday: 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements

  • Tasks are repetitive, individual must be capable of standing in one place for extended periods of time.
  • Work is conducted in an indoor manufacturing environment, around various pieces of equipment (overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.).
  • Environment can be hot and have high temperatures inside the building during the summer months.
  • Heavy lifting required on a daily basis, up to 50lbs.
  • Have the ability to lift and manipulate product on and off skids/equipment.
  • Fast paced, efficiency driven environment.
  • Rigorous physical activities – pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, turning and standing primarily throughout the shift.
