Project Opportunity We are looking for a Senior Scheduler to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the ONxpress Project
This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON, and requires a daily presence in the office and/or on the construction sites.
ONxpress Transportation Partners was chosen in 2022 by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the track, civil infrastructure, signalling, and electrification for the GO Expansion program. This project will transform the GO Transit rail network, resulting in more frequent two-way service, shorter journey times, and a modernized system for the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.

Position Summary Reports to: Scheduler Manager The Senior Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, updating, and managing critical path schedules for our ongoing construction projects. This role entails working closely with our estimating teams, project coordinators, and project managers and all business and technical teams within the company to meet organizational objectives. Reporting to the Program Scheduling Manager, the Senior Planner is responsible for helping and supporting our scheduling team. They will interface with the Project Sponsors (they set our requirements), Construction teams, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) departments, and support work performed by a dedicated Project Controls team within each ONxpress discipline.
The Senior Scheduler’s Key Responsibilities Are
- Performs and/or coordinates, collects, verifies, and integrates the work scope for all entities into the total project plan. Reviews the representation of project scope in schedules and should be able to develop a detailed baseline schedule.
- Develop and maintain all the required project schedules and ensure integrity of data across the entire project life cycle.
- Creation and implementation of key scheduling requirements such as bespoke activity coding, naming conventions, client requirements management protocol, project calendars, and resource and plant data libraries.
- Expertise in resource and cost loading within project schedules, with the ability to generate progress curves, S-curves, and related cost/time charts.
- Support resource planning and analysis. Forecast the requirement of various types of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, over the course of the project based on the work front’s analysis.
- Performs productivity analysis of construction operations and verifies. Establishes a productivity basis to be utilized in estimates, as developed in concurrence with Construction. Reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
- Prepare required progress reports and dashboards to provide project status updates to all internal and external clients.
- Analyze schedule variance, float, and trending, and monitor schedule KPIs.
- Manage schedule change notices and forecast project impact. Implement corrective action when performance trends deviate from baseline
- Perform audits on various schedules, including those produced by subcontractors, and prepare all required output documents.
- Collaborate with all cross-functional teams to maintain, add, or modify the schedule data and plans.
- Experience in performing schedule health checks in compliance with the project agreement requirements and best practices.
- Experience in managing projects using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of cost management in SAP, including cost tracking, reporting, and integration with project controls.
- Ability to develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support informed decision-making.
- Experience in tracking budget performance, identifying cost overruns, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Familiarity with project change management processes and assessing cost impacts of scope changes.
- Capable of integrating schedule and cost data for holistic project performance tracking and reporting.
- Creates and maintains a collaborative culture and environment that is open, inclusive, and respectful.
- Skilled in direction, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel (i.e., project planners and planning coordinators).
Education And Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10+ years of planning experience in mega projects with rail experience.
- Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects.
- Proven problem solver with sound judgment who accepts ownership and accountability.
- Strong communication skills and understanding of technical terminology.
- Undertake forensic schedule analysis and provide reports to the project management team.
- Undertake what-if schedule analysis and present the results to the project management team.
- Expert analytical and computer skills, i.e., MS Excel, word processing software, and presentation tools.
- Expert-level knowledge of project Planning and scheduling software, which may include Primavera P6, XER toolkit & TILOS
- SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro knowledge will be an asset.
Job Requirements
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and strong report preparation skills.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in LRT, railway, transit, or linear civil construction projects is an asset.
