Make your mark while you grow your career! Reporting to the Business Development Director, the Business Development Manager is accountable for originating, structuring, and executing high-impact commercial opportunities that enhance market optionality and maximize netbacks across our portfolio. As a key member of a dynamic Commercial team, you’ll lead initiatives from concept to contract—partnering with Production, Marketing, Legal, and Finance to unlock value and improve logistics efficiency. This role demands a forward-thinking leader with deep industry experience in crude oil and natural gas, a sharp eye for commercial analysis, and a proven ability to navigate complex counterparties and service agreements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the identification, origination, and negotiation of transportation, storage, and terminalling agreements that support long-range production and optimize market access
  • Manage a team of senior commercial advisors by setting clear priorities, coaching for performance, and instilling disciplined negotiation practices
  • Oversee a portfolio of 150+ service agreements across 40+ counterparties, ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and timely resolution of commercial issues
  • Build and maintain netback and supply-disposition models incorporating basis, tariffs, quality differentials, and freight; perform scenario planning and economic analysis to support investment decisions
  • Prepare and present high-impact business cases, decision notes, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Offer commercial expertise to Trading and Scheduling teams, while coordinating execution across Production, Finance, Legal, and other internal functions to ensure alignment and delivery

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Accounting; MBA or CFA designation is considered an asset
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in crude oil marketing, midstream operations, or business development within the energy sector
  • Proven expertise in negotiating, drafting, and managing complex commercial contracts involving transportation, storage, and terminal assets
  • Deep understanding of midstream asset economics, including netback optimization, market dynamics, and scenario-based financial modeling
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with executive audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing high-performing teams, setting strategic direction, and engaging external counterparties with professionalism and integrity
