About the role
Injection Mold Designer - Automotive Manufacturing We're looking for an Injection Mold Designer to join our Client's dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will design complex and non-routine molds, fixtures, and components from part drawings and technical data.
This role requires a high level of technical proficiency and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Design complex molds, fixtures, and components, including advanced tooling with hidden parting lines, conventional fascias, rockers, claddings, and wheel flares.
- Project Management: Manage all aspects of single-tool design projects, from initial concept through to completion, ensuring alignment with program objectives and schedules.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct detailed part feasibility studies, review designs for accuracy and quality, and make recommendations for improvements related to cooling, material condition, and proper draft.
- Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, machining, build, and management) to confirm design concepts and provide technical mentoring to junior designers.
- Engineering Changes: Manage engineering changes by preparing and issuing design files and providing timing feedback to assist with production scheduling.
Skills & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Certificate of Qualification as a Mold Maker or a relevant technical degree/diploma.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role within an automotive production environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX Mold Wizard or similar CAD software.
- Proven ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and solve complex problems.
- Solid understanding of mathematical and mechanical concepts.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Follow Health & Safety procedures and production environment protocols
