About the role
Willowbrae Academy Red Deer is looking for an OUTGOING, PROFESSIONAL, & EXPERIENCED CHEF to join our new Academy in Red Deer
In this role, you will have the responsibility of preparing meals and snacks for a group of children from an already approved daily menu by using a program provided to you Willowbrae preferred online ordering platform. To be successful here you will be a professional, self-motivated person, with a strong interest in making sure we provide the highest quality of food day in and out.
Qualifications
- ALL PROVINCIAL BACKGROUND CHECKS REQUIRED i.e., criminal record check, vulnerable sector check
- Infant CPR and First Aid Certification
- Approved and Recognized Food Safety Certification requirements as per Provincial Guidelines
- Proficiency in Planning and Preparing Nutritious Meals & Snacks
- 2+ professional references
- Ability to work in a team and self-motivated
- Preferably someone with experience in preparing food for a large group
- Basic Computer Knowledge/inputting food order details (training will be applied)
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Planning and Preparing Nutritious meals and snacks according to the already approved Menu
- Keeping inventory of all food and kitchen supplies
- Purchasing of groceries from planned menus and cleaning supplies within the allocated budget through the provided online ordering platform
- Washing all the children’s dishes and utensils, etc. and maintaining kitchen and easting areas in a sanitary and orderly condition
- Communicate with staff concerning the nutritional needs of the children, special feeding requirements and allergies
- Answering staff telephone and main telephone lines, and recording messages
- Any other housekeeping duties as deemed necessary from time to time
- Ensure requested data and metrics are provided accurately and timely
