  • Design, prototyping, and modeling services
  • Wide range of finishing surfaces available including tumbling, polishing, shot blasting and thermal de-burring
  • Cosmetic or protective coating equipment either through certified suppliers or in-house
  • Wide range of secondary operations including CNC machining, tapping, reaming, and drilling

About the Role:

The Industrial Electrician maintains the facilities and equipment in optimum operable conditions at all times to support improved uptime, and to implement and maintain electrical, mechanical and facility-related equipment, Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) activities, and ensure accurate and up-to-date records.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Troubleshooting electrical, electronic, Process Logic Control (PLC) problems and mechanical breakdowns and repairing production machines, CNC machines and facility equipment using best practice methods. Evaluating, repairing and/or rebuilding machine components to improve uptime, and support quality, production and shipment delivery commitments.

  • Respond to machine breakdown, assess/discuss the situation with the Operator to determine root cause, review past machine number file and maintenance records to identify any recurring problems;
  • Determine root cause (i.e. mechanical/electrical) and identify necessary repairs to get machine operational as quickly as possible, implement required corrective action(s), and keep the Supervisor and/or Operator apprised of status of repair activities;
  • Consult with team members to identify the best practices to address repetitive repair activities to establish the most consistent and efficient repair practices;
  • Re-build electrical and some mechanical component parts back to original print specifications to ensure availability for re-use, review Engineering drawings, identify specification requirements, troubleshoot problem, consult with required resource (i.e. supplier) if necessary, and determine required action to recondition parts;
  • Document repair activities and recommend actions on the work order system to prevent recurrence of high frequency problems;
  • Provide leadership as a key contact person/resource involving plant emergencies and repairs to electrical plant equipment and services;
  • Liaise with vendors and Supervisors to ensure timely purchase of necessary supplies to support capability to repair equipment when needed.

Maintaining and fabricating electrical/electronic repairs for essential services to keep facilities in optimal condition, minimizing the cost of operations to the Company.

Provide routine, ongoing maintenance and repair of internal essential services (i.e. chilled water system, air compressors, vacuum systems, fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, process plumbing, filters, and PLC controls) within capabilities, and/or notify the repair/service company as instructed to initiate required repairs;

Completing installation of electrical/electronic services for machine tools, process equipment, and new plant services quickly, correctly and in compliance with applicable Codes and/or regulations within identified timelines to support Company needs.

  • Ensure services are put into place to support installation, link with the required resource(s) (i.e. equipment supplier) to ensure all requirements are met;
  • Review site, recommend placement of equipment, make a required parts list and complete the installation of electrical/electronic services for machine tools, production equipment and new plant services to Code and work collaboratively with other team members to support successful implementation;
  • Unload and relocate the tool(s)/equipment, install according to installation instructions, and connect all required services prior to releasing project to Engineering.

Completing repetitive monthly electrical Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) tasks and ensuring sufficient spare parts and equipment are on hand to maintain operations at all times, optimizing machine and facility operations and minimizing downtime/lost production to the Company.

  • Perform monthly repetitive tasks including removal and installation of die casting machine component parts (i.e. goosenecks, moving mechanisms, filters, limited switches);

  • Follow recognized procedures when completing required P.M. activities as indicated on the work order;

  • Provide leadership in the continuous improvement of the electrical Preventative Maintenance and Standard Maintenance procedures/programs;

  • Evaluate and document spare parts and equipment needed to maintain optimum production operations;

  • Assist in the specification, ordering and maintenance of spare parts to guarantee an adequate parts inventory for the maintenance department;

  • Complete miscellaneous work orders as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction & Maintenance (309A) Electrician required;
  • Minimum of two (2) years' Electrician experience, preferably within an ISO certified manufacturing environment;
  • Certified Hoist Operator preferred;
  • Certified Lift Truck Operator preferred;
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience troubleshooting and breakdown repair of electrical and electronic controls, drive systems, CNC equipment, PLC controls/robot controls.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced level Electrical/Electronic skills and knowledge, including experience and training in the diagnostics and repair of PLC/CNC controlled equipment and electrical safety practices, and control circuitry;
  • Advanced level knowledge and experience of industrial electrical power distribution systems in a manufacturing environment;
  • Advanced level knowledge and experience with the installation of electrical systems including conduits;
  • Intermediate level skill and working knowledge of die cast machine process and controls preferred;
  • Intermediate level mechanical aptitude skills;
  • Intermediate level blueprint, schematics, and part assembly drawing reading and interpretation.
  • Basic level knowledge and proficiency in personal computer applications to manage Preventative Maintenance and work order requirements preferred;
  • Ability to set up and operate a die casting machine to support troubleshooting capability preferred.

Shift Work Required: Days/Afternoons/Nights Monday-Friday
